Affirmations in Action

Most of us are familiar with the idea of using positive affirmations to further our growth, success and achievements, but few understand how or why affirmations really work, or actually use them in our lives on a regular basis. What is an affirmation? An affirmation is telling yourself in times of doubt that which you know to be true at other times. So how does it work? The human mind is different from those of other living creatures in that it has two unique parts the subconscious mind, and the conscious mind. These two minds work together to create our thoughts, behavior and actions. The subconscious mind encompasses the stuff of memories, conditioning, the nervous system, emotions, and your most basic underlying attitudes. It continuously sends these thoughts to your conscious mind, where this information is then used to consciously make decisions, determine goals, and gather knowledge for the purpose of taking some kind of action.
